Atlantic City mayor set to receive $15,000 raise under ordinance

An ordinance that ensures Atlantic City’s top elected official makes more than other civilian employees would make the city’s Mayor Lorenzo Langford eligible to receive a $15,874 raise next year.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Mayor Langford currently is paid a base salary of $103,00, which ranks 145th of all municipal employees.

According to the report, the ordinance is on the City Council agenda for Wednesday’s meeting. The ordinance states the Mayor would make 1 percent more than the highest compensated civilian employee, which the Press of Atlantic City says is Municipal Judge Bruce Ward.

Should city council members introduce the ordinance, the Press of Atlantic City reports a public comment session and vote would follow.
