Atlantic City firefighters prep for tall casino

When Atlantic City’s Revel Casino opens next year, it will have more than 1,000 rooms and employ more than 5,000 people. It will also be 710 ft. tall — one of the tallest buildings in the state and seven times the height of the fire department’s ladder.

So city firefighters are already prepping for the mega resort, as the Associated Press reports, well ahead of the projected May 2012 opening.

Though there hasn’t been a major casino fire in A.C. since legalized gambling began in 1978, s system of sprinklers, internal pipes and firefighters working from inside the building is in place should one happen at Revel.

Only the Goldman Sachs building in Jersey City, at 781 ft. is taller than Revel.
