As New Jersey unemployment rate drops so do the number of jobs

    New Jersey reported a one-tenth percent decline in unemployment for December. The 9.1 rate is better than the 9.4 national average. But jobs are declining, too.
    Nonfarm wage and salary employment lost 16,300 jobs, the Associated Press reports.The private and public sectors lost 13,000 and 3,000 jobs, respectively. Overall figures from the Labor Department show the state is down 30,700 jobs since December 2009 — most in the public sector.
