Arrest made in stabbing of off-duty Philly police officer, bartender
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of an off-duty Philadelphia police officer and another man outside a downtown bar.
Investigators on Friday evening announced the arrest of 39-year-old William Johnson.
Police said the 49-year-old off-duty officer underwent surgery for stab wounds to his torso and leg. His friend, a 40-year-old bartender, needed eight stitches in his face.
Police said the incident happened after the men refused to give the suspect money Thursday night. A 4-inch hunting knife was recovered from the scene.
The names of the victims were not released.
