More than 10 mile delay on GSP in Ocean County due to crash, fire

The combination of a multi-vehicle crash and a nearby fire has generated more than a 10 mile delay on the Garden State Parkway southbound lanes late this afternoon.

As of 5 p.m., the delay stretches from just north of Exit 91 in Brick to Exit 77 in Berkeley, according to Google Maps. Most of the stretch contains heavy traffic.

Traffic began building quickly around 4 p.m. following the crash near Exit 81 in Beachwood that blocked multiple lanes. All lanes are open as of 5 p.m., according to 511nj.org. No details were immediately available.

Compounding the traffic is the closure of Exit 77 due to a nearby fire in a junkyard on Double Trouble Road in Berkeley and typical rush hour volume.
