AP: Philly casino applicants face background checks
Pennsylvania gaming regulators have identified more than 50 principals associated with the six applications for Philadelphia’s second casino.
As the applications move through the process, that list of connected people is expected to grow. Now, board investigators are beginning their process of conducting background checks on those individuals to ensure they are suitable.
Investigators look at financing and corporate structures, conduct background checks and look for others who could exert influence on the applicant. The bureau also examines account ledgers and expenditures to see who’s being paid. They also interview friends, neighbors, prior employers and others.
All of that information goes into determining whether an applicant is suitable.
