Philadelphia’s District Attorney and other elected officials are endorsing one of the city’s own in the Democratic gubernatorial primary.
State Senator Anthony Hardy Williams stood next to District Attorney Seth Williams and several City Councilmembers for the endorsement outside City Hall. They talked about the candidate’s knowledge of Philadelphia and dedication to the city, as well as his ability to bring the state together.
City Councilwoman Marian Tasco recalled the long lines at the polls in 2008 election of Barack Obama. She called on voters to turn out for this election.
“That was important. That was historical,” said Tasco. “You were saying you wanted somebody in the White House who was going to care about you. But you should have that same care about the people in Harrisburg, because all politics are local. And what happens in Harrisburg, impacts on what happens in Philadelphia.”
A recent Quinnipiac poll shows Williams in a crowd of candidates who are trailing front-runner Dan Onorato. The Allegheny County Executive has just been endorsed by Philadelphia City Councilman Bill Green.
