Annual Labor Day exodus from the Jersey Shore begins

The annual Labor Day exodus from the Jersey Shore is in full force early Monday afternoon.
At 1:30 p.m, the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s traffic website, 511nj.org, is reporting building delays on roadways leading from the beaches.
From the website:
As of 12:48pm, there’s Stop and Go Traffic on the Garden State Parkway northbound from North of Exit 82 – NJ 37 East in Toms River Twp to South of Exit 88 – NJ 70 East in Lakewood Twp 5 mile delay, 15-20 minute additional travel time.
As of 1:02pm, there’s Heavy traffic on NJ 35 northbound from CR 528/Herbert St in Mantoloking to NJ 88 in Point Pleasant Beach delays due to volume.
As of 1:02pm, there’s Heavy traffic on NJ 72 westbound from US 9 to CR 111/Nautilus Dr in Stafford Twp delays due to volume.
As of 1:12pm, there are Pockets of Volume on the Atlantic City Expressway westbound from East of Exit 31 – NJ 73 to East of Exit 38 – CR 536 in Winslow Twp expect delays.
Expect delays to build as the day progresses.
