Amoroso’s drivers on strike over delivery route privatization

Two months after layoff notices were sent out, Amoroso’s drivers have gone on strike.

Yesterday was the last day for drivers of the company’s bread delivery trucks to purchase their route in the move to go private, and as NBC10 reports, those who didn’t would risk losing their routes to independent operators.

The strike began early this morning on 55th Street near Baltimore Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia as drivers traded their trucks for signs with the support of Teamsters Local 463.
