Afternoon march to call attention to deficient bridges

A grassroots march this afternoon will call attention to something most people probably don’t give a second thought to on their daily commutes: bridge safety.

Fight For Philly and members of Occupy Philly will march across the Market Street Bridge at 4 p.m. to highlight the potential dangers of structurally deficient bridges.

Pickup locations were set up around the city to help people outside Center City attend the march. Reporter Lizz Fiedler will be at the march to see how the event has been organized and what community members hope the outcome will be.

Protesters say they plan to take up one lane of traffic on the bridge.
