Ackerman’s tax attorney responds to report of lien against the superintendent

After Fox29 obtained a federal tax lien naming School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Arlene Ackerman, her personal tax attorney says the matter has been cleared up.

Ackerman owed $20,000 in personal taxes from 2007.

A statement from the attorney, Michael Gillen, says he and Ackerman are aware of the situation, which they attribute to an address problem, and that agreement with the IRS has been worked out.

Published reports on the lien made mention of Ackerman’s $348,000 annual salary and other perks of the job, like bonuses and a driver.
