Abington School District saving money with energy incentives

Abington School District predicts about $4.4 million in savings over the next 15 years thanks to participation in energy efficiency programs.

With checks from PECO for $336,124 and $129,000 and its participation on the PJM Energy Efficiency Resource Program, schools are becoming more eco-friendly as they save money, the Glenside News Globe Times Chronicle reports.

PECO’s Smart Ideas Program gives rebates to schools that perform updates leading to reduced energy costs, which is what the efficient lighting, low-flow toilets and geothermal heat technology have been doing.
