AAA offers safe ride home New Year’s Eve

UPDATE: To our embarrassment, this service is indeed not available in Pennsylvania. It’s not available anywhere in the Northeast, for that matter. So, folks, please have a designated driver on New Year’s Eve. And have a happy holiday!

UPDATE (12/29): To our embarrassment, this service is indeed not available in Pennsylvania. It’s not available anywhere in the Northeast, for that matter. (Still, we’ve corrected the phone number. Thanks for the tip below.)

Norristown Patch has some helpful information about where it is available.

So, folks, please have a designated driver on New Year’s Eve. And have a happy holiday!

We learned from Philebrity earlier this week that AAA is offering a free ride-home service on New Year’s Eve.

If you’re unable to drive safely, you can call 800-AAA-HELP between 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 6 a.m. New Year’s Day and ask for a “Tipsy Tow.”

But for Pete’s sake, enter that number (800-222-4357) into your speed-dial right now. If you find yourself inebriated on Saturday night, you might not be aware that you shouldn’t drive, let alone able to dial the number.
