83 medals for Team Philly in Transplant Games of America

Team Philly has returned from the Transplant Games of America, 83 medals in hand.

Last month, 65 organ transplant recipients, seven living donors and sixteen donor families went to Grand Rapids, Mich., to compete in the biennial games.

The Olympic-style competition is for anyone who’s received an organ transplant and for living donors.

More than 1,100 athletes competed in 12 sports, and Team Philly’s members ranged from ages 8 to 75. Teammates came from Philadelphia and its suburbs, South Jersey and Delaware through the Gift of Life Donor Program.
