7 left homeless after house fire in West Chester

    A Chester County family of seven is now homeless after a fire destroyed their home early Friday morning.

    The Daily Times reports the fire sparked around 1:20 a.m. Friday morning inside of a home on the 500 block of Barnard Street.

    Firefighters managed to get to the fire within one minute of being dispatched, according to West Chester Fire Chief Mike Cotter.

    According to the report, the quick moving fire was discovered by a family member to have started in the basement.

    Firefighters worked to get the fire under control while also making sure it didn’t spread to nearby homes.

    Investigators estimate the fire caused roughly $150,000 worth of damages.
