2nd medical marijuana facility set to open in N.J.

New Jersey’s second medical marijuana dispensary will soon open its doors.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the Compassionate Care Foundation facility in Egg Harbor Township is due to open Oct. 28. It received its final permit earlier this month.

The site will begin with 650 patients who have registered through the state. Organizers say more than 200 appointments have been made so far.

The Compassionate Care Foundation facility has been allowed to grow cannabis since June. Organizers there say they hope to eventually serve 20,000 with qualifying conditions, such as multiple sclerosis and terminal cancer.

The state has selected six nonprofit groups overall to grow and sell medical marijuana. But the only facility now in operation is one in Montclair, which opened its doors last December.
