Chestnut College break-in

Chestnut Hill College is out $6000 after a burglary that took place between 3:30 p.m. August 12 and 6:45 p.m. August 15. A safe containing $2000 and $4000-worth of copper pipes were stolen, according to Police Officer Jillian Russell.

A maintenance supervisor reported the theft after noticing the missing items in the maintenance shop. Police have no lead yet on a culprit. Chestnut Hill College is located at the 9600 block of Germantown Avenue.

August 10, 2011

800 block Locust Ave. – HP laptop and tools stolen from the property.

7800 block Rugby St. – HP laptop and $10 stolen from a 2009 Dodge Charger.

400 block E. Chelten Ave. – 1997 Volkswagen Jetta stolen.

5700 block Chew Ave. – cell phone stolen from a 1999 Chevy Tahoe.

6300 block Morton St. – complainant said his girlfriend tried to stab him during an argument.

Unit block E. Walnut Lane – purse, wallet, N.J. driver’s license and a pair of prescription glasses were stolen from the 2008 Ford Focus.

8100 block Forrest Ave. – DeWalt hammer drill kit stolen from a 1999 Ford Econoline.

Wolcott Drive / Valley Green Road – purse, Coach wallet, TomTom GPS and $30 stolen from a 1995 Hyundai Accent.

 

August 11, 2011

2500 block W. Cheltenham Ave. – complainant said someone assaulted him with an unknown object.

1100 block E. Upsal St. – X-Box, controllers, games and jewelry stolen from the property between 2:15-9:45 p.m. Aug. 9.

6100 block Baynton St. – complainant said someone stole $23,000 from her home.

100 block W. Tulpehocken St. – Coach tote bag, iPod, Coach wallet, ID, passport, house keys, SS card, credit cards and bank cards were stolen car.

Unit block W. Queen Lane – complainant said two men tried to rob him at gunpoint. Complainant fled. Nothing was taken.

7200 block Germantown Ave. – Verizon cell phone, $400 in cash, book bag and a USB drive stolen from a vehicle.

1400 block E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. – lamp and three chandeliers stolen from the property.

Williams Ave. / Roumfort Road – 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan was stolen. Complainant said there was a police helmet inside the car.

 

August 12, 2011

Unit block Awbury Road – complainant, manager at Awbury Arboretum, said someone stole checks from the business, filled them for $3000 and cashed them.

5100 block Rubicam St. – Cricket cell phone stolen from the property.

400 block E. Collom St. – complainant said his ex-girlfriend cut him on his left arm and both legs with a razor blade. Complainant was taken to the hospital.

Chew Ave. / Slocum St. – brown purse, work check for $757, work check for $98, two pairs of sunglasses, driver’s license, bank card and a work shirt were stolen from the property.

400 block E. Rittenhouse St. – complainant said a known offender stole her HP laptop. She said she let the offender borrow the item. The offender then told the complainant he was keeping the computer and that he considered it a gift.

400 block W. Durham St. – two Apple Macbook computers were stolen from the property between 9:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Aug. 12.

 

August 13, 2011

7000 block Ogontz Ave. – commercial kitchen vent hood, copper pipes and a water heater stolen from the property.

600 block Vernon Road – stereo stolen from a 2000 Buick LeSabre.

Unit block W. Washington Lane – complainant said someone stole $1100 from his garage. Complainant said the garage was left unlocked at the time. There were no signs of a forced entry.

6200 block Greene St. – $10 in cash, pearl necklace and earrings stolen from a 2005 Ford Escape.

6900 block Henley St. – complainant said someone stole $3700 from his home.

100 block E. Mt. Airy Ave. – two bikes stolen from the property between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 11.

900 block E. Mt. Airy Ave. – Wii system, $200, credit cards, debit card and more stolen from the property.

 

August 14, 2011

2400 block 80th Ave. – 42″ Samsung flat screen TV, Wii console, Dell laptop, 20 DVDs and $10 stolen from the property between 6:32-9:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

6700 block Musgrave St. – complainant said a female offender struck her in the face with a fire extinguisher.

400 block E. Walnut Lane – 42″ Magnavox flat screen TV stolen from the property.

400 block E. Penn St. – More than $900 was stolen from a bar at the location between 2-8:40 a.m. Aug 14. $400 was stolen from a cash machine, $400 from a jukebox, $60 from a cash register. $50 worth of computer games was also stolen.

7000 block Germantown Ave. – complainant said four men assaulted him and tried to take his DVD. Offenders were gone before police arrived.

Greene Street / W. Walnut Lane – complainant said two men mugged him. Offenders ran off with complainant’s iPhone and another cell phone.

 

August 15, 2011

900 block E. Upsal St. – white gold diamond ring stolen from the property between 7:30-9:25 p.m. Aug. 15.

6700 block N. Woodstock St. – 20 ft. of copper stolen from the property.

7400 block E. Walnut Lane – radio stolen from a 2002 Cadillac DeVille between 11 p.m. Aug. 14 and 6:45 a.m. Aug. 15.

6300 block Crittenden St. – 2005 Mercury Mountaineer stolen.

5100 block Wakefield St. – complainant said a known offender bit her on the right hand when the complainant tried to break up a fight between the complainant’s daughter and the offender. Offender was arrested.

6300 block Germantown Ave. – T-Mobile cell phone stolen from the property.

9600 block Germantown Ave. – copper pipes, a safe containing $2000, a hand truck, adapters and other copper items were stolen from Chestnut Hill College. Complainant, the maintenance supervisor, said someone stole the items between 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12 and 6:45 p.m. Aug. 15.

100 block W. Highland Ave. – Toshiba laptop, Macbook, power adapter and a USB stolen from the property.

100 block E. Mount Airy – transom stolen from Holy Cross Church. Complainant, the church’s pastor, said the offender stole the item from above the front door of the rectory between 1 p.m. Aug. 8 and 6 p.m. Aug. 15.

 

August 16, 2011

1500 block Cardeza St. – air conditioner stolen from the property.

5300 block Chew Ave. – HTC cell phone stolen from the property.

6200 block Morton St. – pipes stolen from the property. Complainant, the building’s owner, said they were taken over a two week period.

1000 Kitchens Lane – two purses, two driver’s licenses, an SS card, $250 in cash, debit cards and a birth certificate were stolen from a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta.

8200 block Fayette St. – iPod, tapes, two sheet sets and a Traveler’s Insurance policy were stolen from a 2011 Chevy Tahoe between 3-5:30 p.m..

1600 block Wadsworth Ave. – assorted Nike T-Shirts, pants and hats stolen from Sneaker Villa.

200 block E. Durham St. – two bicycles stolen from the front porch and the backyard.
