Is Pennsylvania’s budget stalemate pushing lawmakers into retirement?

    Personnel changes in Harrisburg could portend an increasingly polarized roster of lawmakers. John Micek of PennLive joined NewsWorks Tonight host Dave Heller to read the tea leaves.

     

    Among those moderate Republicans who have announced retirement in the past few weeks are state Rep. Mike Vereb from Montgomery County, Delaware County’s Bill Adolph, Hershey’s John Payne, and Cumberland’s Patricia Vance.

    According to Micek, the stress of the on-going budget impasse and debates in the state legislature may have been a factor in lawmakers deciding to pursue other endeavors — “spend more time with their family.”
