Edwin Mayorga is new to the Philadelphia region after living in the New York area for 14 years. He hails from Southern California originally. He and his spouse, Jen, have a six-year-old son who is obsessed with baseball right now.
Edwin is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Swarthmore College and is director of the Education in the Barrios project (#BarrioEdPHL), a participatory action research study that examines educational policy and community development in Latino core communities in Philadelphia and New York City.
Edwin is specifically interested in writing about multilingual and multicultural families, play in and out of school, and school-community relationship building.
