Romantic Debussy at 18

On Stage At Curtis features a composition written by Claude Debussy at the age of 18 in 1880. The Piano Trio was discovered over 100 years later in 1982 and first published in 1986.

    Debussy: Trio in G major
Lun Li, violin; Chase Park, cello; Janice Carissa, piano

When the Trio in G major was composed, Debussy had very little training in composition. It was written during the summer of 1880 in Italy. Chase Park describes the piece as “awkwardly written, and Debussy didn’t have any mercy for the performers because we were always changing positions”.
