Carney Inauguration
This week we focus on the change of government in Washington and Dover. We begin our broadcast with the inauguration of John Carney. The 74th Governor of Delaware was sworn in under a light rain that did not dampen anyone’s spirits who watched on the steps of Legislative Hall. Governor Carney and his Lieutenant Governor both took their respective oaths of office. Then the new Governor outlined what needs to be done in the First State.
Carney Time Line
John Carney has held almost every political title there is in Delaware. This week, he adds another to the list, Governor. We look back at Carney’s 30-plus years in public office.
Carney Reaction
The Governor made several references to Wilmington and the need to end the violence there and to make sure the city prospers. There were many supporters of the new Governor there, and they were eager to hear his message.
The First 100 Days
Governor Carney talked about ending the poverty to prison pipeline as a way to improve life in the First State; he has his work cut out for him. After the speech he reflected on what his priorities will be for his first 100 days.

Governor Carney will have to deal with a very different federal government under president Donald Trump.
