Woman runner strangled in Philly park, police say

Homicide detectives say a 46-year-old woman found dead in a Philadelphia park had been strangled during an evening run.

Police say Constance Murray left her home in Northeast Philadelphia to go running at about 9 p.m. Monday.

Her husband searched for her when she failed to return home, police said. They say the husband and a daughter reported her missing about 2 a.m.

A neighbor walking a dog found the body in Pennypack Park early Tuesday morning, Capt. James Clark said.

Authorities said Murray’s body was found a few blocks from home, in a grassy area by a baseball field. They say she had not been sexually assaulted.

Police have no immediate suspects, and are seeking help from the public.
