Window woes

The news that local window installer windowizards had ceased operations came as a surprise to some — but none more than several dozen customers who paid deposits and are wondering where the goods are.

The Bucks County Courier-Times details the complaints of some customers who are wondering when or if they will see their windows – or their money. According to the article, “the Bucks County Consumer Protection Office had received upwards of 70 complaints from customers who were likewise unable to get in touch with anyone from Windowizards.”

Former employees may likewise have some complaints. An anonymous employee told the paper that the company still owed some of its 100 workers paychecks and that the company had recently fallen on hard financial times.

Nils Frederiksen, spokesman for the state Attorney General’s Office, would neither confirm nor deny the presence of an investigation on behalf of Windowizards’ customers, according to the article. He invited anyone who ordered windows and gave the company a deposit to contact his office if they have not gotten the windows or their deposits returned. The AG’s consumer protection hot line is 1-800-441-2555.

For its part, windowizards offered an apologia of sorts on its stripped-down website, citing an “an unanticipated interruption of deliveries of windows for customer installation” as the reason it ceased operations.
