Windermere tenants retrieve as much as they can from building

Former Windermere Court residents yesterday had a chance to retrieve some of their belongings, though not in the way they’d hoped. Residents drew maps and made lists of where their valuable items were and lined up as demolition workers went into the building to search.

West Philly Local shot video of some the residents, including one who went into the building himself, who were concerned flooding had moved some of their valuables around and crews wouldn’t be able to find them.

Important paperwork, work materials and family heirlooms were among the most sought-after belongings.

Windermere Court caught fire last month, and residents have not been able to get in since.
