A major inbound route for drivers in Wilmington was closed Wednesday morning as police investigated a suspicious package.

A suspicious box was discovered around 8:10 a.m. in the parking lot behind the Planned Parenthood offices in downtown Wilmington.

Police shut down Orange Street between 6th and 7th Streets while they investigated.

Members of the Wilmington Explosive Ordinance Team used a robot to determine that the box was empty. The area was cleared around 9:45 a.m.
