Wilmington Mayor kicks off initiative to support local eateries

Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams along with members of the Communications and Cultural Affairs Division are leading by example by dining and keeping dollars local.

As part of an initiative to support various eateries, the Williams administration formed the “Lunch Bunch” where officials will visit a different restaurant each week. The group’s first stop was at Wilmington’s Deep Blue Bar and Grill on Friday.  The goal is to bring attention to some of city’s rich and diverse culture that many can experience on a plate full of delicious food.

“Wilmington’s restaurant community brings life to our neighborhoods, and also highlights all of the different ethnic and cultural influences within the city,” said Mayor Williams.

The “Lunch Bunch” will remain active until August 30th, sharing some of their experiences online to encourage the community to support local restauants as well.

“This is one of the things we promised during the campaign, not only will we help businesses, but we will be there to roll our sleeves up and do whatever we can to keep them here and to make them prosper,” said Williams.
