Leave it to City Council to spice up the summer months.
According to Philly.com, Majority Leader Curtis Jones, Jr. ever-so-eloquently challenged Mayor Michael Nutter and his administration to a mid-summer softball game against City Council.
The invite came in the form of a letter that read:
On this day: the 10th of July,
We extend this challenge, and anticipate your reply.
The gauntlet is thrown, the game is set.
On the softball field, your team will be met.
It is your privilege to name the place and the time.
City Council and staff will field with nine.
To the victor: the spoils; fortune and fame.
It just wouldn’t be summer without America’s game.
Whether or not Nutter will accept the challenge is still to be determined.
