When loved one has cancer, partner’s mental health suffers

    A Danish study published in the journal “Cancer” found that men whose partners had breast cancer were 39% more likely to need hospital care for mood problems, including severe depression.

    This is one of the largest studies looking at the effects of a cancer diagnosis on the mental health of loved ones. WHYY’s Behavioral Health reporter Maiken Scott spoke with psychologist Dan Gottlieb about these findings:
