West Philly sets up the city’s first parklet

Coming Thursday to 43rd and Baltimore: a parket.

The University City District is setting up the city’s first parklet, a wood and metal platform meant to extend leisure space typically taken up by parking spaces.

West Philly Local snapped this photo of the set-up, which will occupy two parking spots in front of the Green Line Cafe. The seating at the parket will be for public use.

The UCD and City of Philadelphia teamed up to bring the parklet to 43rd, with the help of a William Penn Foundation grant.
