West Phila. park shows rapid development

A West Philadelphia park is making significant progress as part of a project that began two years ago.

According to PlanPhilly, the infrastructure work surrounding Penn Park around 31st Street between Walnut and South Street can easily be seen to anyone passing by.

The park is part of Penn Connects, which Plan Philly says is a long-range land use and urban design campus plan for the University of Pennsylvania.

The park project was initated in conjunction with the goals behind the Penn Climate Action Plan.

Plan Philly reports the park has seen rapid development after work began in 2009.  The beginnings of a multi-purpose stadium can now be seen along with a tennis center, which includes 16 courts.
