Man fatally shot in West Oak Lane
A 31-year-old man was shot four times and killed in the 7000 block of N. 15th St. just after 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Police said the man, who has not yet been publicly identified, was shot three times in the chest and once in the arm inside Windsor Estates at 7011 N. 15th St., across 15th Street from a cemetery.
He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead within a half hour of being shot.
Police said no arrests have been made and they don’t have a description of the shooter, or shooters, as of 9:30 a.m.
There was no sign of police activity at the scene later in the morning, only a mop bucket sitting outside the building that had been used to clean the front step and vestibule area.
Figuring out whether he knew the victim
A man arrived outside Windsor Estates after seeing a televised report that the man was a father who had been lured from his apartment by phone call from the gunman who ultimately killed him.
He told NewsWorks that he often drops his 11-year-old niece off at that building, where she lives with her father.
Footage from the crime scene that he watched on his mobile phone hinted that investigators were at the niece’s father’s apartment in the early morning hours.
The family had not been notified whether he was the victim, the man said around 10 a.m.
