Waste not

Bob Martin, New Jersey’s commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection issued a reminder to residents today about the state’s Electronic Waste Management Act. Under the act, all TVs, computers and monitors must be recycled.

Some municipalities have instated designated ewaste curbside pickup days, while other will rely on residents to bring their items to designated drop-off areas provided by their counties or local Best Buy and Goodwill retailers.

The DEP expects the program will spare 50 million pounds of electronic waste in its first year.
