Vigil in progress

Each year, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden holds a vigil for those who were victims of homicide in the last 12 months.

Since Wednesday and until 5:00 p.m. this evening, a candle for each of the 37 people murdered in Camden will be lit each hour, followed by prayer.

“It’s one thing to remember this year,” says Larry DiPaul, a Camden Diocese spokesperson. “It’s another to hope for a better next year.”

A goal for the Diocese in the new year, he says, is to “address the issues that weigh heavily on people’s hearts, and improve the quality of life for the people in Camden.”
