McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to hold open house May 15

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will soar over the joint base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst as its annual air show and open house returns after a one-year hiatus on May 15, 2016.
 
The aerobatic squadron will headline this year’s show, dubbed “Power in the Pines”. 
 
Also appearing will be the GEICO Skytypers and Breathing Jet Team, as well as the U.S. Army Golden Knights Jump Team.
 
1024px-Abrams-transparentNumerous military vehicles and aircraft from all five branches of the armed forces will be on display, including the Army’s M-1 Abrams tank, the Marine’s MH-53 Pave Low helicopter, the Navy’s T-6 Texan warbird craft, the Air Force’s F-22 Raptor fighter craft and the Coast Guard’s 25-foot response boat. 
 
The access gates to be used for the public event will be announced on the event webpage. Vehicles will be directed to the appropriate parking area after entering through the gate.
 
Gates open at 9 a.m. and aerial performances begin at 11 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring sunscreen, lawn chairs, cameras and water bottles. 
 
Drones, bikes, coolers, alcoholic beverages and backpacks are prohibited. Pets are also not welcome.
 
Admission, refreshments and parking are all free.  Bus transportation will be available from distant parking lots to the entrance.
 
A special sneak preview family day for Department of Defense ID cardholders only will be held on Friday and includes an evening concert and picnic with Country music star (and Army vet) Craig Morgan at Hangar 2201(Dock 1). 
 
Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – McGuire airfield, JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ.
