Allen’s Lane
Jo Ann Allen’s resolution is simple: stop feeling as if Philadelphia is the slighted, overlooked stepchild of other East Coast cities. On the other hand, it’s very complicated: fight every urge that every Philadelphian has ever had to stand up for our self-conscious city when other cities get national attention.
Our Morning Edition host has taken on this seemingly impossible task just one year into her Philadelphia tenure. Perhaps there’s hope for her yet, given her relative newness here. Or maybe, she’s already joined the dark side.
Regardless, we wish her luck. And we challenge all Philadelphians to do the same.
