Two Weekend Family Ideas: Who says golf and art don’t mix?
Hopefully you made it past Hurricane Sandy safely, in good spirits, and are ready to venture out. After a homebound weekend, cabin fever, and a short school week, why not get out this weekend for some family time? This weekend holds a couple of family friendly activities that will keep you busy:
Tee Up!
On Saturday, November 3rd from 9:00-12:00, the First Tee of Greater Philadelphia will sponsor a FREE open golf session for young people interested in not only the game of golf, but also character and relationship building.
The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia is a youth development organization that uses golf as a catalyst to teach core values such as “integrity, respect and perseverance”. They offer an atmosphere where children and youth can develop and challenge themselves and can be taught the craft of golf by professional instructors.
Every Family Party!
And with a few hours of downtime in between, you can still make it to another great event from 5:30-8:00p.m. The Philadelphia Museum of Art will hold their 15th Annual Every Family Party, the premier family event you won’t want to miss! For a few hours on Saturday, November 3rd, explore the museum, sing, dance and make art, guided by the theme, Night at the Museum.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is more than a home for great art. They also embrace philanthropy at the core and view art as a powerful means to transform the lives of children, their perceptions, and how they relate to their world. All proceeds from Every Family Party benefits the museums Division of Education, which has been recognized for its children’s, adults, family and adult learner programs. Advanced tickets are required, and discount rates are available for groups. So be sure to call ahead or visit their site for more information.
