NJ transportation chief: No trucks for Parkway

Forget the talk about allowing trucks on the Garden State Parkway.

New Jersey Transportation Commissioner James Simpson says it won’t happen.

Simpson made the announcement Monday following press reports over the weekend that indicated officials were looking at allowing trucks to use the Parkway north of Interchange 105.

Simpson said there’s no plan to change the current policy prohibiting trucks. He said the agency’s professional staff has indicated there are significant engineering issues that would prevent even preliminary consideration.
