Truck driver fined for spilling roofing asphalt on Pa. Turnpike

The truck driver whose tanker leaked a tar-like chemical across a 40-mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been fiend $1,000.

The eastbound lanes between the New Castle and Allegheny Valley exits became coated in the substance, disabling and damaging care and backing up traffic just before Thanksgiving.

According to the Associated Press, a Pennsylvania magistrate determined driver George Delaney was responsible for the leaking valve and issued him a citation for failure to properly secure a load.
