Train collides with truck in Newark, Del.

Newark police say a tractor-trailer driver has been critically injured when a freight train hit his rig.

Officers say the accident occurred about 2 p.m. Friday when 42-year-old Joseph C. Mounts of Felton parked the tractor-trailer on the sidewalk just east of a railroad crossing. Police say Mounts had made a delivery and had gotten back into the truck when a CSX train approached.

Authorities say the crossing arms lowered on the trailer and Mounts tried to drive the truck forward and away from the crossing.
