Train collides with truck in Newark, Del.
Newark police say a tractor-trailer driver has been critically injured when a freight train hit his rig.
Officers say the accident occurred about 2 p.m. Friday when 42-year-old Joseph C. Mounts of Felton parked the tractor-trailer on the sidewalk just east of a railroad crossing. Police say Mounts had made a delivery and had gotten back into the truck when a CSX train approached.
Authorities say the crossing arms lowered on the trailer and Mounts tried to drive the truck forward and away from the crossing.
Police say the train hit the passenger side of the truck’s cab.
Officers say Mounts was extricated and taken to a hospital in critical condition.
