Suspect in toy store robbery caught
Ryan Burkett, the suspect wanted in this week’s Wilmington toy store robbery, is behind bars and awaiting extradition.
The 27-year-old is being held in the Delaware County, Pennsylvania prison. Burkett, who was also wanted in Pennsylvania for outstanding probation violations, surrendered to the Ridley Township Police Department Thursday, and was turned over to the County Sheriff. Delaware State Police say Burkett will be extradited to Delaware upon his release.
Delaware authorities linked Burkett to the armed robbery of the Learning Express Toys store on Concord Pike in Wilmington, after a witness came forward providing detectives with the registration number of a white work van Burkett was seen entering after the robbery.
Burkett’s accused of approaching the sales counter Tuesday night, demanding money from two employees at gun point.
The victims were not injured.
Burkett faces first-degree robbery charges.
