Tolls to increase $1 on the Delaware Memorial Bridge

Drivers who frequent the Delaware Memorial Bridge can expect a toll increase starting July 1. But, not to worry–discount programs for frequent users will still be mostly in place, according to NJ.com.

The Delaware River and Bay Authority Board of Commissioners decided yesterday to raise the base fare from $3 to $4 and add a quarter to the Commuter and Frequent Traveler discount program rates. It’s the first time in 24 years the discount program rates have changed.

The DRBA says the toll increase is needed to pay for infrastructure improvements and to ensure they’ve got enough money to pay for current and future debts.

The increase is expected to add $22 million a year.
