Toll collectors disrupt NJ turnpike meeting

This just in from the AP: Toll workers disrupted a New Jersey Turnpike Authority meeting by staging a sit-in earlier today.

The workers told the board of commissioners they won’t leave until the board comes to the bargaining table for a new contract.

The Record reports the toll collectors began shouting “negotiate” and asked the board if members were going to meet with the union. Shouts of “sit down at the table” and “show some guts” interrupted the presentation.

Transportation Commissioner Jim Simpson adjourned the meeting, which got started just after 11 a.m., because the crowd wouldn’t quiet down.
