White tiger at NJ zoo euthanized

Officials have euthanized a white tiger at a southern New Jersey zoo after two weeks of declining health.

Shiva had marked his 14th birthday at Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton on June 22.

Curator Kelly Shaw told The Press of Atlantic City the tiger had developed cancer in his lungs, spleen and kidneys.

Shiva and the zoo’s other white tiger, Ganesha, were brought to the zoo as cubs from a zoo in Sweden in 1997.
