The future of Pier 9: Study begins on waterfront property

A study is now underway to consider the future of Pier 9, located just south of the new Race Street Pier park in Philadelphia.

PlanPhilly reports the DRWC board’s executive committee hired the firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackons to study possible uses for the structure, which now serves primarily as a garage.

The firm will be paid up to $75,000 for the study, which is expected to be completed in about three months.

PlanPhilly says possible uses for the pier include everything from restaurants to a festival space to a rentable events venue.
