Suspect in hit and run that killed 2-year-old turns himself in
The man being sought in a hit-and-run crash last spring that killed a 2-year-old boy crossing a Philadelphia street with his mother has turned himself in to police.
Miguel Colon, 22, turned himself in Monday at the main police headquarters in Philadelphia, police said.
The city last week offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
Police allege that Colon was behind the wheel of a car that struck David Aliea and his 19-year-old mother at about 7 p.m. on April 13 in the city’s Kensington section.
Officials said the woman was critically injured but recovered quickly and remained at David’s bedside at St. Christopher’s Hospital until he succumbed to his injuries three days later.
