Two teachers at Luis Muñoz-Marin Elementary School in Kensingtonhave helped a 12-year-old student complete a book about her battle with cancer.
Judy Willner and Meloni Kinckner wrote and illustrated “How my Sun got its Smile,” as told by Deana Vega, who’s spent the last three years battling cancer.
The Philadelphia Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Chapter will name Vega as its Girl of the Year, and she and her teachers have hopes of spreading their messages in hospitals, book stores and TV talk shows.
