Summer of 2012: What will your defining memory be?

The official end to summer isn’t until September, but this weekend marks the close of the 2012 Jersey Shore summer season.

If you’ve been going down the shore for as long as I have, you look back at summers past not by actual year but by whatever big happened. It’s not the summer of 1992 or 2002 or 2012. It’s “The year Jim hit Mikey in the head with a rock when he was trying to miss” or “The year I bought that $12 bikini at Hoy’s because I forgot to pack one” or “The year of Hurricane Bob.”

I’m not sure what my memory for 2012 will be since my shore vacation is in September. So far, though, the leading candidate is “The year the greenhead bite got infected.” For at least one guy, it will allegedly be “The year I tried to steal a Hummer and drive it to Sea Isle.”

What will your 2012 memory be? Let us know in the comments.
