Stop & swab

Philadelphia Weekly today has a feature story on the Philadelphia Police Department’s efforts to catch the Kensington Strangler and/or the man wanted for the attacks against three surviving women.
The article profiles Enrique “Chino” Sanchez, a 23-year-old Kensington resident who’s resemblance to the sketch of the man associated with the attacks earned him an encounter with the police. Writer Tara Murtha looks at the legality of police practices like “stop and swab,” which involved swabbing a suspect for DNA without a warrant.
