Stingrays again close N.J. beach

Stingrays forced lifeguards to call swimmers out of the water at a New Jersey beach for the second day in a row.

Approximately 15 to 30 stingrays were spotted in the shallow water near the beach in Loch Arbour yesterday afternoon.

Lifeguard Todd Ganghamer tells the Asbury Park Press the decision was made to close the beach.

On Tuesday, swimmers were ordered out of the ocean because of stingrays in Spring Lake. There also were unconfirmed reports of two possible shark sightings in Spring Lake on Monday.
