Stepping down

    Stephen Sweeney announced today he’ll resign his position as a Gloucester County freeholder. The Associated Press and Gloucester County Times report the NJ Senate President and current acting governor has grown tired of holding so many positions. His resignation is effective tomorrow.

    Sweeney’s faced criticism in the past for holding multiple public office positions, but was grandfathered into legislation banning dual positions.
